Abstract
This thesis aims to identify the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement in the auction market of contemporary African American paintings between 2013 and 2021. Through the analysis of the annual turnovers of a selection of eight African American Artists born between 1970 and 1980, this research intends to show changes and tendencies in the auction market. As the market is not isolated from the social and political context different historical and political events are also analyzed to get a broader and better understanding.
