Abstract

New collectors (and interior designers) do not have access to affordable art that is of a high caliber and there are limited avenues for collectors (/interior designers) and emerging artists to come together. Which is why I propose Luminary, a pop-up affordable art auction. A pop-up auction format allows both an online and in-person component, and auctions are fun and exciting and provide a positive lure to clients wishing to attend a fun art event. This would be an opportunity to curate and work with emerging artists without fully committing to their individual markets. Partnering with an established creative collective like Spring Studios will help me build my platform for a successful business model as it will help set the standard for the type of art offered in addition to bringing in clientele. The event will be an opportunity for new collectors to buy affordable art from a well-curated selection, emerging unrepresented artists to sell their work (and create a history of selling work), and a place to network with other budding collectors/people interested in art/people working in the art world.
