Abstract

“A Dialogue between two masters: Zhang Daqian and Zao Wou-ki” is an exhibition that showcases the artworks of two Modern Chinese artists who best represent the fusion of Eastern and Western artistic concepts in the Chinese art history. The exhibition will demonstrate Zhang Daqian’s splash-ink series and Zao Wou-ki’s ‘Hurricane’ series. Both of these series marked a creative peak in their career. Both artists were born and raised in China, received professional art studies in China, and have long-term experience of living abroad, all of which influenced their
blend of Eastern and Western art and culture. They are the two masters that creatively introduced Western light and shadow into their pictures full of Eastern characteristics and developed unique works that integrated Chinese and Western art philosophies in different backgrounds and countries.
